A Lamborghini driver was stopped in Leeds after officers spotted it was missing a front registration plate.

West Yorkshire Police officers from the Leeds District Bike Team shared on Facebook that they had stopped the driver of the supercar for not having the essential part.

The force said: “Officers from the Leeds District Bike Team recently had cause to stop and speak with the driver of this supercar. As you can see from the picture, the driver was failing to display a front registration plate while driving.

“Although this may seem petty to some, failing to display or having unreadable registration plates could reduce the chances of us recovering your vehicle should it be stolen and hit an ANPR camera.”

According to the government website, these are the rules for number plates.

The number plates on your vehicle must:

  • Be made from a reflective material.
  • Display black characters on a white background for the front plate.
  • Display black characters on a yellow background for the rear plate
  • Not have a background pattern

However, characters on a number plate can be 3D.
