Lamar Odom won't be watching Netflix documentary about his addiction struggles

Lamar Odom won't be watching the Netflix documentary that centres on him

Lamar Odom doesn't intend to watch the Netflix documentary about himself.

The 46-year-old former basketball star is the subject of Untold: The Death and Life of Lamar Odom but would prefer not to relive his near-fatal 2015 overdose as he attempts to recover from addiction issues.

Lamar, who was formerly married to reality star Khloe Kardashian, told USA Today: "Every recovering addict knows that you want to kind of stay away from things that were traumatising in your life."

The former LA Lakers player added: "I was telling my girlfriend on the way here, it's like swimming in a cesspool of trauma.

"And I'm trying to get out of it, but the story reels me back into that pool every time. But I just know I'm bigger than the situation, and I hope to help a lot of people with my testimony. Not just with with the story, but just in life, that we can all overcome addiction."

Odom's ex-wife Khloe features in the documentary but the two-time NBA champion revealed that he hasn't been in contact with her since their tense reunion on a 2025 episode of The Kardashians.

He said: "To me, it didn't really go well. Felt like she was in attack mode, but I can't really invalidate her feelings, and I won't do that. I kind of felt sorry for her, in a sense, when I walked away from it.

"Even thought I know she's OK - she's in a good place, she has kids now (True and Tatum Thompson from her relationship with ex-partner Tristan Thompson) - but I could understand the hurt that I caused her."

Lamar and Khloe - who divorced in 2016 - married just one month after meeting in 2009 but the ex-basketball ace has no regrets about making the hasty decision to walk down the aisle.

He said: "It's a time that I wouldn't change.

"Only thing I would change (would) probably be my actions. But it was a part of my book, part of my story, it ain't going anywhere. But all I can do is try to be the best man I can be now for myself, for my children (Destiny and Lamar Odom Jr., whom he has with his ex-girlfriend Liza Morales) and for my family."
