Lamar Jackson sets new rushing record vs. Patriots

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has been on fire since being selected in the first round of the 2018 NFL draft. He’s set record after record in spite of not having started a full season’s worth of games yet. In Week 9 against the New England Patriots, Jackson set yet another record on the team’s very first drive of the game.

Jackson now has the most rushing yards by a quarterback through the first eight games of the season. After finding the end zone on a three-yard walk-in touchdown, Jackson has run the ball 86 times for 589 yards and four touchdowns.

While many people have used Michael Vick as the barometer of Jackson’s success, breaking his record should point to the Ravens’ quarterback being a more dynamic player. Jackson’s speed and the offensive scheme designed by coordinator Greg Roman has caused opponents headaches.

With a big matchup against New England tonight, Jackson is going to have to be on the top of his game both on the ground and through the air if Baltimore is to win. But he’s started off on the right foot.
