Lamar Jackson has third-best odds of winning back-to-back MVP awards

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson had a season to remember last year. Even though Baltimore didn’t go to the Super Bowl, Jackson put up one of the best overall seasons for a quarterback, breaking the single-season rushing record while leading the league in touchdown passes. Jackson broke several franchise and NFL records en route to winning the MVP award in just his second season in the league.

According to BetMGM, Jackson has +600 odds of winning the MVP award next season as well. He’s third on the list behind Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. For those new to sports betting, a $100 bet would pay out $600 in profit.

It’s impressive to be that high on the list at any point, but it’s even more impressive when you consider that only four players have won an MVP award in back-to-back seasons since 1957 (Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, Joe Montana and Jim Brown). The last person to do that was Manning in 2008 and 2009.

However, with Baltimore having some cap space to spend and expected to have nine picks in the 2020 NFL Draft, they should be able to add talent around Jackson and their top-ranked offense this offseason. Barring a complete collapse next season, Jackson should find himself in the running for the award. When combining his rushing and passing acumen, it seems like Jackson would be a good bet.
