Lamar Jackson expected to return to practice Wednesday

In advance of their matchup with the Cleveland Browns, the Baltimore Ravens are expected to get their former MVP quarterback back. Lamar Jackson missed last week’s game with a non-COVID-19 illness. There was some concern that Jackson’s illness could linger throughout this week as well.

Without Jackson, the Ravens squeaked out a victory against the Chicago Bears in Week 11, 16-13. Jackson has thrown for over 2,400 yards this season while also leading Baltimore in rushing yards with 639 yards.

To say that Jackson is the Ravens’ most important offensive player is clear in the boxscore as well on the field. The threat of the former Heisman Trophy winner opens up running lanes for other ball carriers while he continues to develop as a passer.

After participating in walkthroughs and film time this week, Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh expected him to practice Wednesday:

As with all illnesses, how the quarterback responds to the time off and how it impacts his health moving forward will be important to watch especially late in the game. Returning to practice on Wednesday makes it likely that he will play against the Browns this week.
