The postgame handshake is a difficult setting to get a message across, especially when it involves Tom Brady. You have to wander through a sea of photographers and have maybe a few seconds to exchange pleasantries. But for Lamar Jackson, the message was simple.
He wanted to show some respect to the future Hall of Fame quarterback — even after a big win over New England.
Lamar Jackson helped hand the Patriots their first loss of the 2019 season, adding another blow to those ill-advised questions that faced Jackson’s career prospects just a couple years ago. He passed for a touchdown and rushed for two more in the win.
And all of that led to a cool postgame exchange with Jackson calling the Patriots quarterback the “GOAT.”
Brady was gracious and complimentary of Jackson and started the interaction by saying, “Great game, dude. You played great.”
Jackson then went on to call Brady the GOAT twice.
In a separate video, we could see that Brady actually shouted to get Jackson’s attention through the crowd of photographers just so he could compliment the Ravens quarterback.
The respect absolutely went both ways.
