LaLiga side Getafe to renew all season tickets for free next season in wake of coronavirus pandemic

The president of LaLiga side Getafe has vowed to renew the subscriptions of all 13,500 of the club’s season ticket holders for free next season.

Angel Torres confirmed that he would personally front the cost of the tickets in recognition of the financial difficulties facing supporters in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

The remainder of the current LaLiga season – including five Getafe home matches – looks set to be played behind closed doors, while there are no guarantees over when fans will be able to return to stadiums next season.

“The 13,500 Getafe season ticket holders this season will have their free subscription next year for La Liga games,” Torres said on Radio Marca. “We are not going to charge them. Let them know that they are not going to pay anything. My pockets will pay for it.

“I did not go into bankruptcy, I did not use an ERTE (state aid) and the players and the Treasury are up to date.”

Getafe are currently fifth in LaLiga, locked in a tight Champions League race, with just two points separating Sevilla in third and Atletico Madrid in sixth.
