LaLiga say no official restart date after claims competition will resume on June 20

LaLiga have insisted there is no official date set for a return to action after Leganes coach Javier Aguirre claimed he was told the competition would restart on June 20.

Football has been suspended in Spain since mid-March due to coronavirus, but clubs were given permission to resume individual training this week after some lockdown measures were lifted by the government in a four-phase de-escalation plan.

"We have a return date for the start of LaLiga," Aguirre told Marca Claro on Thursday. "I have been told that we will start on June 20 and in five weeks we will finish officially on July 26.

"The games will be played on Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday. The 11 rounds. LaLiga have just informed me officially and that makes me very happy because we can schedule the training sessions."

But in a statement, LaLiga said: "There are no confirmed dates to return to competition.

"We will begin training sessions and then wait for the government’s decision about the established dates.

"Our intention is to return to competition in June as long as the government decides it is OK to do so.”
