The Los Angeles Lakers have a lack of draft picks in the coming years, and it has come mostly as a result of trading for Anthony Davis back in 2019.
Most notably, they will not have either a first-round or second-round pick in next month’s draft.
However, the team will reportedly still work out a number of prospects on Tuesday.

“According to a report, the Lakers are holding workouts with a handful of prospects on Tuesday.
“DeVante’ Jones, a guard, is perhaps the most notable player working out for the Lakers on Tuesday. Although he’s already 24 years old, he displayed some exciting potential during his collegiate career.
“Jones played three seasons for Coastal Carolina University before spending his final collegiate season at the University of Michigan.
“During his time at Coastal Carolina, he averaged 17.0 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game on pretty efficient shooting. At Michigan, Jones saw his usage percentage decrease slightly, which caused his averages to dip. He went for 10.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game.”

Jeriah Horne – Tulsa
Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu – UT Arlington
Jamaree Bouyea – San Francisco

This could mean that the Lakers are seriously considering or even planning on making a trade to acquire a draft pick or the right to a player another team selects in the 2022 NBA Draft.
It could also simply mean that the team is doing its due diligence but is unlikely to swing such a deal.
L.A. is in serious need of some young players, one way or another. It had one of the oldest rosters in NBA history this season, which was one of the reasons it failed to qualify for the play-in tournament.
