The Los Angeles Lakers announced Tuesday Sekou Doumbouya’s two-way contract has been waived.
Los Angeles initially signed the 6-foot-8 forward towards the start of the regular season after waiving Joel Ayayi, the previous holder of one of two two-way spots.
Doumbouya, a former first-round pick in 2019, is currently rehabbing a foot injury, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
He appeared in two games this season, most notably dropping 10 points on 4-of-4 shooting in the blowout loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.
The Lakers will replace Doumbouya with Chaundee Brown. Brown signed with the team on an Exhibit 10 deal after going undrafted in 2021, and he impressed on both ends of the floor during Summer League and the preseason before being waived prior to the start of the regular season.
Brown then moved to the South Bay Lakers and was key in the team’s opening night win against the G League Ignite.
Jay Huff, a 7-foot-1 floor-spacing center, is the other two-way player.
