Lakers using No. 4 to acquire high-level player for Anthony Davis deal

The Anthony Davis trade saga seems to be picking up steam, with the two teams who have been chasing him all along reportedly engaged in trade talks with the New Orleans Pelicans.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski dropped the latest bomb, alongside colleagues Brian Windhorst, Ramona Shelburne and Zach Lowe, that the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers are “engaged” in talks with the Pelicans at this moment. And it seems that the rather than send the No. 4 pick to New Orleans outright, the Lakers are attempting to flip the 4th pick for a “high-level” player to add to the Pelicans in exchange for Davis.

So while it has appeared that the 4th pick could be used by the Lakers to draft sharp-shooting guard Darius Garland, who has been working out with LeBron James, the Lakers are hoping it could turn into a top player for the Pelicans to take back.

Someone like Bradley Beal of the Washington Wizards, perhaps? That is the type of haul that the Pelicans would be unable to get from the Lakers and according to reports, Beal is the exact type of player to get a deal like that done given what the Pelicans are looking for.

And as far as the Celtics are concerned, it appears Danny Ainge is not at all concerned about the latest publish statements from Rich Paul that Davis would be nothing more than a rental for Boston.
