Lakers use balanced attack to drub lowly Pelicans, 126-99

NEW ORLEANS_When New Orleans Pelicans center Anthony Davis left the game, with him went all of the Pelicans' offensive firepower.

The Lakers beat the Pelicans, 126-99, improving their record to 6-4. It's the first time since the end of the 2012-13 season the Lakers have been at least two games above .500, and also the first time since then they've won five of their previous six games.

Davis finished with 34 points in 34 minutes. Nick Young, D'Angelo Russell, Brandon Ingram, Jordan Clarkson and Lou Williams all hit double figures in scoring. Clarkson led the Lakers with 23 points.

Davis walked to the locker room with 8:12 left in the third quarter after hitting the ground following a score that pulled the Pelicans to within 63-62. For the next 4:53, the Lakers had their way with the Pelicans. New Orleans couldn't score, even air-balling one three-point attempt. The Lakers put together a 14-0 run that buried the Pelicans.

With 3:19 left in the third quarter New Orleans' Terrence Jones finally scored, but by then it was too late.

The Lakers conclude their three-game road trip against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday.
