Lakers trade for Mike Muscala, give up Zubac and Beasley to Clippers

The Los Angeles Lakers made a move in the last hour of the deadline, but it wasn’t for the superstar player fans had been hoping for. However, it does open the door for the Lakers to add a player on the buyout market.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Lakers agreed to a deal with the Los Angeles Clippers for big man Mike Muscala, who was traded to the Clippers this week from Philadelphia. The deal cost the Lakers Michael Beasley and Ivica Zubac. Zubac was previously thought to be a key part in a would-be Anthony Davis trade.

Muscala’s addition, paired with the trade for Reggie Bullock, is a clear effort from the Lakers front office to improve one of the league’s worst 3-point shooting teams. Muscala is a career 36.5 percent 3-point shooter and is currently shooting 34.2 percent, would rank 5th among the current Lakers roster.

The move also creates a roster spot that the Lakers could use to sign Carmelo Anthony. However, it appears that there will be plenty of veterans on the buyout market, such as Wesley Matthews or Wayne Ellington, that could go in the newly opened spot.
