The Los Angeles Lakers are signing veteran guard Isaiah Thomas, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
The deal is reportedly a 10-day contract under the hardship exemption. The Lakers are currently playing without Talen Horton-Tucker, Malik Monk and Dwight Howard. All three players are currently in the NBA’s health and safety protocol.
Thomas is technically the 18th man on the roster because of the exemption.
The former No. 60 overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft made headlines this week when he dropped 42 points in his G League debut for the Grand Rapids Gold, the Denver Nuggets affiliate.
Thomas played for the Lakers in 2017-18 but only for 17 games.
