Lakers showed interest in adding Cleveland’s Matthew Dellavedova

The Los Angeles Lakers are still working on finalizing the details of their roster ahead of the start of training camp early next week and the season starting in just over three weeks. As a result of the Lakers busy activity, we are hearing more about the moves they tried to make but were unable to complete. One of those stories of a missed connection involves a familiar member of the LeBron James universe: Matthew Dellavedova.

According to Marc Stein of the New York Times, the Lakers tried to bring in Delly before he eventually elected to go back to the Cavaliers earlier this week.

Delly would have added some depth at point guard behind Dennis Schröder and Alex Caruso, though Caruso is more of a combo guard than a true point guard like Dellavedova. While the Lakers have made plenty of moves, it’s clear that they’ve been very busy this offseason and refuse to be complacent after winning the franchise’s first championship in 10 years.
