Things have never been darker for the Los Angeles Lakers after losing to the league’s worst team and it’s been reflected among a collection of playoff probability scores.
At best, the Lakers have a 7% chance of getting into the postseason, but most projections have that down to 1 percent or less.
The most favorable odds for the Lakers come from 538, while ESPN’s Basketball Power Index has the lowest odds, giving the Lake Show a 0.9% chance of making the playoffs. Meanwhile, Basketball Reference has the Lakers with a 1.3 chance of making the postseason, a lower likelihood than the Minnesota Timberwolves.
After last night’s loss, LeBron James could not ignore what their record screams: they’ve been inconsistent all season long. While they had a few big wins that did give them some hope of sneaking into the postseason, last night’s loss decimated their chances in a big way.
Even if the Lakers get a win tomorrow against the 7th place Clippers, their looking highly likely to be watching the playoffs from their couch.
