Lakers players feel embarrassed after coaching search debacle

The players on the Los Angeles Lakers roster appear to have more common sense than the folks making decisions about the franchise.

The Lakers hit rock bottom earlier this week when they failed to come to terms on a deal with Ty Lue, but LeBron is out there recruiting guys like Kawhi Leonard while a former teammate who left him is starting to realize the grass isn’t always greener.

But despite the efforts from the Lakers only accomplished player, players on the team feel “embarrassed” after how the team handled the Lue situation. This comes from Yahoo’s Chris Haynes, as transcribed by Silver Screen and Roll’s Harrison Faigen.

“It’s the Lakers organization as a whole right now. You said it in your opening: It’s a laughingstock right now. Just the way everything was handled… It’s really frustrating for people who are involved with the team, and certainly for some of the players I’ve talked to. They call it an embarrassment. I’m talking about players for the Lakers. They consider an embarrassment what’s going on, and it’s not the ideal situation to be in.”

So even though the Lakers players are unidentified, it’s a really bad sign that this type of dysfunction has trickled down to the players. Professional athletes are generally unfazed by most outside things, because they’re trying to get better. But the type of failure the Lakers have displayed has been transcendent.
