Lakers plan to re-assign Kyle Kuzma to team after G League practice

The Los Angeles Lakers are as close as they’ve ever been to getting back third year forward Kyle Kuzma. The scoring forward has been dealing with an injury for the past two months that kept him out of training camp and has kept him in street clothes for the first week of the regular season. That appears to be changing soon though as the team announced Kuzma was assigned to the South Bay Lakers, the Lakers G League affiliate, for Wednesday’s practice.

The Lakers announced that Kuzma would be immediately re-assigned to the big club after he gets a practice in. Kuzma celebrated the news on his twitter page. A few hours after the practice, it appears that Kuzma has been cleared to return to the floor and will play for the Lakers on Friday against the Dallas Mavericks.

The Lakers have had a mostly ideal start to the season as they’ve gone 3-1 through their first four games and are currently the only team in the NBA that ranks in the top-10 in both offensive and defensive rating, according to NBA.com.

Once they get Kuzma back, their offense could go up to another level. They will certainly need that firepower to kick off the road trip as they face two strong teams with playoff aspirations in the Dallas Mavericks on Friday and the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday.
