Lakers-Pistons recap: Lakers offense goes missing in 4th quarter

The Los Angeles Lakers were locked into a tough game against a struggling but pesky Detroit Pistons team on Thursday night but in the final minutes of the game it was the Lakers who let the game get away from them, putting up a season-worst 14 points in the final period of the game as the Pistons knocked off the Lakers, 107-92.

LeBron James had yet another good performance on the road with 22 points, 10 assists, seven rebounds, and four 3-pointers, but that and 22 points from Kyle Kuzma represented far too big of a percentage of L.A.’s points. TO Detroit’s credit, they made things hard for the rest of the Lakers starters, with Marc Gasol, Dennis Schröder, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope going a combined 5 for 17 from the field.

Blake Griffin had a throwback performance for the Pistons with 23 points and five 3-pointers, while Wayne Ellington also poured it in from the outside with six 3-pointers. Detroit’s Mason Plumlee also feasted at the rim with Anthony Davis missing tonight’s game, as Plumlee was a near-perfect 7 of 8 from the field and 10 rebounds.
