Lakers News: Rajon Rondo out Saturday at Houston Rockets

The Los Angeles Lakers will be without one of their most experienced players in their Saturday night primetime matchup against James Harden, Russell Westbrook, and the Houston Rockets.

The Lakers have announced on Saturday that Rajon Rondo would miss his third straight game since injuring the ring finger on his right hand, according to Kyle Goon of the Southern California News Group. While the Lakers received good news about fellow reserve guard Alex Caruso, it will be interesting to see what Rondo’s outlook will be for the remainder of their five-game road trip.

Rondo injured his finger during his best performance of the season, last Saturday’s 125-110 Lakers victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder, without either LeBron James or Anthony Davis.

Without Rondo, James will carry an even bigger load and the Lakers will have to continue to rely on their other guards deeper down the bench, such as Quinn Cook and Troy Daniels. If Rondo is out for Monday’s game against his former Boston Celtics squad as well, then people will justifiably have questions about whether the finger injury is more severe than the Lakers and Rondo have led us to believe so far.
