Lakers news: LeBron James says worries about rest ‘way bigger’ than it actually is

The Los Angeles Lakers are struggling in a way they haven’t over the past two seasons. After their latest loss, in which they blew a 17-point lead to lose at home and LeBron James played 43 minutes, the inevitable questions came about the workload for L.A.’s veteran superstar. And as he always does, James dismissed the concerns as nothing more than a media talking point which doesn’t accurately reflect the reality of how he responds to his big workload.

“This whole narrative that LeBron needs more rest so I should take more rest and take time has become a lot bigger than it actually is,” James said. “I’ve never talked about it. I don’t talk about it. I don’t believe in it. We all need more rest. This is a fast turnaround from last season. We all wish we could have more rest. But I’m here to work. I’m here to punch my clock in and be available to my teammates. If I’m hurt or not feeling well, we can look at it then.”

James has been adamant for years that if he feels healthy he will play. He’s played in every game for the Lakers so far this season. The Lakers have played their last two games without Dennis Schröder in addition to not having Anthony Davis since Feb. 14.
