Lakers news: LeBron James recovery time expected to be 4-6 weeks

The Los Angeles Lakers were rumored to be in the market for a huge trade before the NBA trade deadline but instead opted to hold things together on Thursday afternoon. The Lakers were connected to Raptors guard Kyle Lowry, who is staying in Toronto. They’re also connected to potential free agents who are expected to hit the buyout market, such as former Spurs big man LaMarcus Aldridge and former Cavs big man Andre Drummond.

But all of the above are luxuries. What really matters for the Lakers and their championship hopes is the health of LeBron James and Anthony Davis. According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the timeline for LeBron James’ recovery was 4-6 weeks after his injury last Saturday. So, at the very least he’s out for three more weeks. Charania added that Anthony Davis is about two weeks away from a return.

The Lakers return to the floor on Thursday night against the Philadelphia 76ers, another team connected to the Lowry rumors who ultimately did not land the All-Star guard.
