Lakers news: Kyle Kuzma to practice Wednesday with G League team

The Los Angeles Lakers are getting Wednesday off before they head out on their first extended road trip of the season, which is set to begin Friday against the Dallas Mavericks. But just because the squad who played yesterday has the day off doesn’t mean that Kyle Kuzma’s work towards returning to the floor will stop.

Following the announcement that the Lakers would have Wednesday off, Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times reported that the Lakers plan to have Kuzma practice with the Lakers’ G League affiliate on Wednesday, before joining the team on the upcoming road trip. Kuzma has only recently started playing 4-on-4, playing 25 minutes of 4s over the weekend.

So it seems that Kuzma will finally get the chance to play some 5-on-5 soon, as early as Wednesday. If Kuzma’s leg continues to respond well after practicing in a 5-on-5 setting, then the chances he plays on the upcoming road trip go way up.

While it would be quite a surprise to see him play on Friday when the Lakers face a strong 3-1 Mavericks team, a return for the games at the back-end of the trip doesn’t seem too unlikely.
