Lakers news: Anthony Davis (calf) to be out four weeks, through All-Star

The Los Angeles Lakers fell to 5-2 in their games without Anthony Davis this season following Thursday night’s blowout home loss against the Brooklyn Nets. But the Lakers have to adjust on the fly sooner rather than later without Davis as their head coach Frank Vogel told reporters on Thursday night that Davis will be out for at least four weeks to recuperate from his calf strain, which was aggravated earlier this week in Denver.

Davis missed his seventh game of the season tonight for the Lakers and L.A. has now moved to 22-8 in the standings, 2 and 1/2 games behind the first-place Utah Jazz and only one game ahead of the third-place Los Angeles Clippers.

While the Lakers are doing the right thing in making sure they give Davis plenty of time to recovery, the injury could cost the Lakers in playoff positioning in a compressed season and could eventually hurt the MVP case of LeBron James if they are unable to tread water without AD.
