Lakers news: Anthony Davis (Achilles) out for second straight game vs. OKC

If the Los Angeles Lakers are going to win their sixth straight game they will have to do it for the second night in a row without their star big man Anthony Davis, who will miss his second straight game on Wednesday night as he continues to deal with Achilles tendinosis. Without Davis on Monday night, Lakers coach Frank Vogel went with Markieff Morris in the starting lineup at power forward alongside center Marc Gasol.

Without Davis, the Lakers will lose a lot of length around the court and also quite a bit of skill, shotmaking, and playmaking. Still, the Lakers are looking at a different Oklahoma City team than the one they faced on Monday night. Oklahoma City’s star guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is missing Wednesday night’s game with a sore knee after finishing with a game-high 29 points in Monday’s loss to the Lakers.

According to the National Institute of Health, tendinopathy is the degeneration of a tendon from overuse, which could indicate Davis may need some extended rest for his heel.
