Lakers-Nets game in Shanghai appears set to go on as planned

For the last 24 hours, it has looked like an unlikely scenario that the game scheduled for a few hours in Shanghai between the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets simply would not happen. However, despite all of the recent cancellations to the schedules for NBA teams in China, the game appears set to go on in less than four hours.

The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported a few hours ago that all indications from the NBA were that the game would go on as planned and several reporters on the scene in China are already at the arena in Shanghai, preparing for the game as if were any other.

According to ESPN’s Rachel Nichols, neither team will be speaking to the media in China.

As you may have heard, even if the game is still going on in Shanghai, it will not be televised nationally in China after both the nation’s CCTV and internet provider Tencent have both announced that they will not televise the game inside the country.

Tip-off between the Nets and Lakers is scheduled for 4:30 a.m. PDT at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai. The game will be shown nationally in the United States on NBA TV.
