Lakers meeting with Philly’s Monty Williams on Tuesday

The Los Angeles Lakers are kicking off their head coaching interviews on Tuesday as they look for a replacement for Luke Walton.

According to Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times, Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka is on the East Coast to meet with Philadelphia 76ers assistant coach Monty Williams on Tuesday. Williams, along with Miami assistant Juwan Howard and former Cavaliers coach Ty Lue are all expected to get interviews with the Lakers this week.

Williams does have a history with LeBron James, as he was an assistant coach on Team USA during the mini-camp that LeBron attended in 2015. Williams was also the head coach for the first few years of Lakers trade target Anthony Davis’ career. And if we really want to get conspiratorial, he has a relationship with Philadelphia star Ben Simmons, who may have his eyes on L.A.
