The Los Angeles Lakers have officially announced the signing of DeAndre Jordan, the team announced Thursday.
Jordan is slated to sign a one-year deal worth $2.6 million, as previously reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic.
The 33-year-old center is currently projected to be the team’s third center behind Dwight Howard and Marc Gasol, though Gasol’s status on returning is uncertain.
Jordan last played for the Brooklyn Nets in the 2020-21 season, where he averaged 7.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.1 steals while shooting 76.3% from the field.
The Nets, however, traded Jordan to the Detroit Pistons in early September because a buyout deal couldn’t be reached; Detroit eventually agreed to a buyout with Jordan, paving his path to Los Angeles.

This will be Jordan’s 14th year in the NBA, and his first with the Lakers. He had once represented the L.A. Clippers for about a decade.
