Lakers looking at Milwaukee’s Wesley Matthews to replace Danny Green

The Los Angeles Lakers are already making moves as the NBA enters what projects to be the most intense offseason week in league history. Ahead of Monday’s lifting of the trade moratorium, the Lakers have already agreed to a deal for Oklahoma City’s guard Dennis Schröder in exchange for veteran guard Danny Green and the No. 28 pick in Wednesday’s draft, according to multiple reports, including ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

While Lakers fans had plenty to say about Green during the postseason, he was still mostly solid on both ends and shot nearly 34 percent from the 3-point line on 5.5 attempts per game. They will need to replace what he gave, even if it was below the expectations of the Lakers, their fans and probably himself. So where do the Lakers turn for some 3 and D? Milwaukee Bucks veteran guard Wesley Matthews, according to Marc Stein of the New York Times.

Matthews is a career 38.1% shooter from the 3-point line and has shot over 36% from the 3-point line in each of the last two seasons. Matthews shot 39.5% from the 3-point line in the playoffs for the Bucks in 10 playoff games in the Orlando bubble. He also often took the task of guarding the best player on the opposing teams, even if he’s not as good in that role as he once was during his Jazz and Blazers days.
