Lakers’ LeBron James out vs. Spurs with ankle injury

The Los Angeles Lakers ruled LeBron James out against the San Antonio Spurs, the team announced before the game.

James is dealing with right ankle soreness, which occurred Sunday against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Halfway through the second quarter, Grizzlies guard Desmond Bane landed on James’ ankle after falling on an attempted layup that was strongly contested by Dwight Howard.

James stayed on the floor for a few minutes, but he got back up and finished the game.

The Lakers are likely moving with caution because a similar type of injury last season derailed James’ strong campaign; he missed 27 regular-season games last year because of it.

Head coach Frank Vogel will have to change the starting lineup now, so it’ll be interesting to see what he goes with. James’ status for tomorrow’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder is not yet known.
