During the offseason, LeBron James decided to switch his jersey number with the Los Angeles Lakers.

After wearing No. 23 during his first three seasons with the franchise, James swapped it to No. 6.

James infamously wore No. 6 with the Miami Heat during the four seasons he spent there. He won two titles with the organization in back-to-back years.

Now back in No. 6 for the first time in games as a Laker, James explained why he made the switch.

“It’s always been a part of me, to be honest,” James said. “Six has a lot of meaning to me, from my family and numbers and things of that nature to what I believe in and things of that sort, but my mentality doesn’t change.”

James explained how he still keeps the same mindset.

“Going out, being an overall basketball player, trying to dominate at all facets of the game and being a great teammate,” James said. “And being a great leader.”

The jerseys are available to purchase online, and it’ll debut on Oct. 3 when the Lakers host the Brooklyn Nets in the preseason opener.
