Lakers know LeBron would be ‘happiest and most engaged’ with Lue as coach

Although LeBron James is a master at influencing things for his teams without necessarily taking ownership of them, the Los Angeles Lakers appear to understand some of the unsaid messages that LeBron has been sending.

According to Marc Stein of the New York Times, one of the smoke signals that LeBron has sent to the Lakers is that he would be most willing to play for Ty Lue more than any other potential head coach. Monty Williams, who appears to be the Lakers top candidate for the job, will apparently be offered the job with the Phoenix Suns soon.

It was after this that Stein dropped a nugget about the Lakers franchise knowing that LeBron believes be will be optimized with Lue.

As I’ve written hear before, while the memes have been posted, Lue was not simply a figure head for LeBron to do what he wanted. People close to the Cavaliers can vouch for the accountability that Lue asked for from his players, starting with LeBron on his first day as head coach.

That never stopped and even though the pressure forced Lue into health issues, he appeared to get a handle on before last year’s playoffs and into this past regular season before Koby Altman mercifully fired him.

The Lakers conducted second interviews with both Lue and Williams last week, so we are still waiting for the verdict from each of those.
