Lakers GM Rob Pelinka had some interesting quotes after the trade deadline

After two weeks of trade rumors and a group of players that clearly saw both their best player and bosses trying to trade them, things are understandably awkward for the Los Angeles Lakers right now.

Magic Johnson has plans to fly out to Philadelphia to meet with the team and air their grievances. Not even a game-winner from Rajon Rondo could heal the wounds. A post from LeBron James after last night’s thrilling victory didn’t even get a like from any of his teammates even though he tagged basically all of them.

This entire situation, created almost entirely by Klutch Sports and the Lakers, is as awkward as can be. And yet, Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka made things even weirder with his comments regarding the Lakers situation after the deadline. Pelinka spoke with the Lakers crew of beat reporters on Friday.

On the impact of the trade rumors, he went with this analogy.

And the quote in full context, makes even less sense.

Then he compared the two acquisitions they did make for 3-point shooters, getting Reggie Bullock from Detroit and Mike Muscala from the Clippers, to…New England Patriots wide receiver and Super Bowl 53 MVP Julian Edelman?

Pelinka has ton of experience in the basketball world but as an agent, he wasn’t as vocal in the media as his new job requires him to be. Truthfully, we could all use some more of Pelinka behind the microphone, even if I don’t understand what it is he’s saying. God bless the Lakers.
