Lakers GM Pelinka: Maximizing LeBron will be ‘balancing act’ in 2020-21 season

The Los Angeles Lakers still have plenty of work left to do when it comes to building their team for next season. However, the question of how they will handle LeBron James and his workload looms over every move they make head into the 2020-21 season. While LeBron being in shape is not in question, whether it’s a good idea to assume he takes the same workload he had last season is another question entirely. In fact, the question came up in Thursday’s press conference from Lakers Vice President of Basketball Operations and general manager, Rob Pelinka.

According to Pelinka, how they manage LeBron’s workload will be a “balancing act” but he has the utmost respect for the work LeBron puts in on his body and of course, what LeBron’s own feedback is about what he’s ready to take on.

LeBron is going to be ready to play on opening night and on Christmas Day when the Lakers will almost certainly be scheduled to play on national television. But the games after that may be a little lighter on LeBron than we are used to seeing due to the quick turnaround after playing until the last game of the season.
