Lakers expected to meet with Ty Lue sometime next week

Considering one of their candidates is currently coaching a team down 0-1 in the first round of the playoffs, it’s notable that the other major candidate for the Lakers job can meet them as early as next week.

Yahoo’s Chris Haynes reports that former Cavaliers head coach Ty Lue already has plans to meet with the Lakers at some point next week.

Lue was the first name reported in connection to the Lakers job after the firing of Walton, but it’s not a sure thing that he gets it even though he has some significant advantages.

The ability to actually meet face-to-face while Monty Williams must help Brett Brown avoid a first round upset to the Brooklyn Nets gives Lue an additional leg up on top of his already strong relationship with LeBron James.

James and the Lakers clearly hold Williams in high-regard, but even in coaching, availability is a great ability.
