Despite the cancellation of several supporting events in the buildup to Thursday’s Los Angeles Lakers vs. Brooklyn Nets game in Shanghai in the wake of the NBA’s brewing political controversy, the main event went on as scheduled at Mercedes-Benz Arena.
Prior to the game, Lakers newcomer Dwight Howard delivered a strange moment during his warmup. As Howard went up for a towering one-handed dunk, he lost his pants in mid-air.
What exactly happened here? It’s possible Howard suffered a wardrobe malfunction mid-flight, but he also may have slyly unbuttoned the pants with his left hand as he left the floor to wow the crowd with a disappearing pants trick. Remember, this is the guy who wore a Superman costume in the dunk contest. He knows how to put on a show.
