Lakers drop three spots in latest Rookie Wire NBA power rankings

It’s been a tough few weeks for the Los Angeles Lakers, and the struggles aren’t going away anytime soon.

Without Anthony Davis and key rotation players Trevor Ariza and Austin Reaves, among others, the Lakers lost five games in a row before snapping the losing streak against the Houston Rockets on Tuesday.

The momentum, however, didn’t last long. The Lakers blew a 13-point second-half lead against the Memphis Grizzlies, sending the team again to two games below .500, 17-19.

Before the Lakers played the last two games, Cody Taylor of Rookie Wire did a new power ranking for all 30 teams, and the Lakers fell from No. 12 to No. 15:

Last Rank: 12

The Lakers own the longest losing streak in the NBA at five games. They made things close on Christmas Day versus the Brooklyn Nets but ultimately fell late. To make matters worse, they have the toughest remaining schedule this season.

Let’s see if the Lakers can respond from the loss to Memphis and rise in Rookie Wire’s next edition next week.
