Lakers drop second in a row as Rockets roll to victory

Well, the good news for the Los Angeles Lakers is that Thursday night’s game against the Houston Rockets brought them one game closer to the playoffs. Because other than that, it’s hard to discern anything else from yet another brutal performance from the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night.

James Harden had 39 points and 12 assists to lead the Houston Rockets to a bounceback 113-97 victory over the Lakers, who were without LeBron James (groin). Ben McLemore, who got the start in place of Russell Westbrook for Houston, scored 20 points to support Harden’s excellent effort.

Kyle Kuzma led the Lakers in scoring with 21 points while Anthony Davis had 17 points and 12 rebounds, but the Lakers continue to shoot the ball poorly from the outside, going 2 for 19 from the 3-point line. Also, Dion Waiters continues to struggle to find the bottom of the net as he went 2 for 10 from the field off the Lakers bench.

The Lakers don’t play again until Saturday when they face an Indiana Pacers team coming off a loss to the red hot Phoenix Suns.
