Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel is among the many NBA coaches trying to change their mindset and figure out how to maximize the situation presented in front of them with the coronavirus. With the NBA still holding out hope that they can resume the season in some form or fashion, most likely at a central location such as Las Vegas, Vogel said that he wants his players to focus on body maintenance and take a mental break, almost like they would during the summer, in order to come back as fresh as possible if the NBA eventually resumes.
Vogel was asked about his approach to managing his team during coronavirus by ESPN’s Jackie MacMullan.
“If you follow him on social media, you’ll see he’s working out like a madman,” Vogel said. “But LeBron knows what he’s doing. His workouts are mostly for body maintenance, which is what we’re looking for with our guys right now.”
Many of the Lakers have been figuring out ways to work on their games, stay in shape, or at least avoid boredom. Anthony Davis has been shooting at his outdoor basketball court and Kyle Kuzma has gotten on TikTok, while James has become a constant fixture on his son Bronny’s TikTok channel as well.
