Lakers brass planning to meet Monty Williams on the East Coast

The Los Angeles Lakers aren’t waiting for one of their desired candidates to be done with the postseason before meeting him.

Philadelphia 76ers assistant coach Monty Williams will be treated to a visit from Lakers upper management sometime this week, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Williams does have a history with LeBron James, as he was an assistant coach on Team USA during the mini-camp that LeBron attended in 2015. Williams was also the head coach for the first few years of Lakers trade target Anthony Davis’ career. And if we really want to get conspiratorial, he has a relationship with Philadelphia star Ben Simmons, who may have his eyes on L.A.

Williams was the head coach of the New Orleans Pelicans for five seasons between 2010-2015.
