If the Los Angeles Lakers are going to extend both their current win-streak and their 15-game road streak alive on Tuesday night against the Indiana Pacers, they will have to do it without their leading scorer and Defensive Player of the Year candidate Anthony Davis.
Davis, who turned his left ankle in Sunday’s win over Atlanta but played through the injury, has been ruled out for Tuesday night’s match-up against the Pacers, according to Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times. Davis told reporters after the game in Atlanta that he finished the game on adrenaline and was ruled a game-time decision earlier on Tuesday before being ruled out.
While the Lakers would never say so, but with a potential Final preview showdown on Thursday night against the Milwaukee Bucks, making sure that Davis is right for that game will be of utmost importance against defending MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Tuesday will be the second game Davis has missed but tonight will be a little different because the Lakers are also without Kyle Kuzma. In the one game Davis missed, Kuzma had 22 points to support a team-high 23 points and 12 assists from LeBron James in a home win over Golden State. Kuzma, too, is currently dealing with an ankle injury that has now cost him four straight games.
