Lakers’ Austin Reaves out two weeks with hamstring strain

The Los Angeles Lakers announced Thursday guard Austin Reaves will be out two weeks with a hamstring strain.

Reaves missed the game against the Miami Heat Wednesday along with guard Rajon Rondo.

The undrafted rookie has become a mainstay in the rotation, and even in closing lineups, as injuries have piled up. He’s averaging 6.1 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game in 21.3 minutes, but his impact spreads beyond the box score.

Reaves has been fundamentally sound on defense despite not possessing elite athleticism against the league’s quicker guards and wings, and he’s a high-IQ passer on offense.

A two-week timetable would keep Reaves out of action until Nov. 26 when the Lakers host the Sacramento Kings.

Though Reaves is out, third-year guard Talen Horton-Tucker is nearing a return to make his season debut.
