Lakers assistant Jason Kidd has head coaching interest from Nets

There is no more high-profile coaching job available for the 2020-21 season than the opening on the bench for the Brooklyn Nets. And while there have been rumors for weeks now about once would-be Lakers coach and current Clippers assistant Ty Lue having the interest of Kyrie Irving, the Nets have interest in far more than just the former Cavaliers championship coach.

In his reporting about the Nets coaching search from Thursday afternoon, Marc Stein of the New York Times says that current Los Angeles Lakers assistant and former Bucks and Nets head coach Jason Kidd is a serious candidate for the job alongside Lue, Jeff Van Gundy, and Mark Jackson.

Vaughn, who was the former coach of the Orlando Magic, it should be said coached the Nets to a couple of nice wins before the NBA hiatus, including a road win against the Los Angeles Lakers. Vaughn may have the continuity advantage but that didn’t save Atkinson. It looks like the Nets are looking for an experienced head coach with considerable court among their two stars, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant.
