Lakers announce new sponsor partnership deal worth $100 million, reveal fresh jersey design

The Los Angeles Lakers announced a new sponsor partnership with the company, Bibigo, which specializes in South Korean food.

The deal, according to Bill Shaikin of The Los Angeles Times, is worth $100 million for the next five years.

Bibigo’s logo will be stitched onto next year’s jersey where the front left shoulder is, across from the Nike swoosh. Both the swoosh and the NBA logo featuring Jerry West are diamond-plated to honor the 75th anniversary of the league. There is also a patch that says “17” to honor the number of trophies L.A. has.

“The Lakers are thrilled for the opportunity to partner with Bibigo as our first-ever global marketing partner,” said Tim Harris, President of Business Operations, in the press release. “As Korea’s leading food brand, Bibigo is always looking for opportunities to innovate and expand their brand, and the Lakers are excited to help them to not only expand their global recognition but to provide the opportunity to reach new fans.”

Bibigo’s patch will replace the Wish logo on the jerseys. The Bibigo logo will make its debut on Oct. 3 when the Lakers host the Brooklyn Nets to kick off the preseason.
