Lakers agree to two-year deal with point guard Alex Caruso

The Los Angeles Lakers have spent the last day filling out their roster and have elected to bring back one of their only remaining young players back for a two-year deal.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Saturday night that the Lakers have agreed to bring back third year point guard Alex Caruso on a two-year deal worth approximately $5 million, which is just barely above the league minimum.

Aside from the contracts handed out to Danny Green and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, the Lakers have been able to find good value with minimum signings. Rajon Rondo and DeMarcus Cousins both agreed to minimum deals, as did veteran forward Jared Dudley and sharpshooting guard Troy Daniels. The Lakers also brought back last year’s starting center, JaVale McGee.

The Lakers currently have 13 players on their regular roster, if you include rookie guard Talen Horton-Tucker. They have already used one of their two-way roster spots on guard Zach Norvell, who has had some strong showings in the Las Vegas and Sacramento summer league’s.

As for Caruso, he will likely have legitimate shot to fight for the starting point guard position with Rondo and recently signed point guard Quinn Cook from the Golden State Warriors.
