Lakers add shooter Ben McLemore to fill final roster spot

The Los Angeles Lakers are adding a 3-point specialist to fill out the roster for the upcoming playoff run. 28-year-old guard Ben McLemore was granted a release from the Houston Rockets on Saturday, and has signed a deal for the rest of the 2021 season with the Lakers according to a report from Shams Charania.

McLemore spent a season and a half in Houston, and shot 40 percent from behind the arc in the 2019-20 season. That year, McLemore ranked in the top 30 in the league in both 3-point percentage and 3-point makes per game, despite only averaging 22.8 minutes per game. His shooting percentage has dipped this season, but he’s also received less opportunity to play during what has been a tumultuous season for Houston.
