Lake Michigan: Updating Indiana access

Here is what I have pieced when it comes to boat launching on Lake Michigan in Indiana, as of Tuesday morning.

Staff at the Hammond Port Authority emailed Monday afternoon:

Following the notice from the Governor of Indiana and the Mayor of the City of Hammond in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Hammond Port Authority and all properties (Marina, the Marina Launch Ramp, Lost Marsh Golf Course and Wolf Lake) will be closed starting Wednesday March 25th until we are advised we can reopen. We will continue update our status when there are any changes.

As of Monday afternoon, Portage Public Marina staff said they will be open until or if Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb orders recreational areas closed.

Michigan City Port Authority was in a bit of limbo on whether any launches would be open during the general closure, which will run through April 7. A more certain decision is expected by the end of the day.

As of Tuesday morning, the East Chicago Marina launch was open.

As always, all this could change very quickly one way or another.
