Lake Michigan: Indiana launch access, a Wednesday update

The updates come for Indiana launch access to Lake Michigan. That’s as of this morning, Wednesday, March 25.

Portage Public Marina staff said they are remaining open with a $10 launch fee. That’s as of this morning on Wednesday, March 25.

Here is the latest from the Hammond Port Authority, note the Wolf Lake launch and trails will stay open:

The Hammond Marina will close Wednesday, March 25th Until Further Notice!

Following the notice from the Governor of Indiana and the Mayor of the City of Hammond - in response to the COVID-19 pandemic , the Hammond Port Authority and all properties (Marina, the Marina Launch Ramp, Lost Marsh Golf Course.) will be closed starting Wednesday March 25th and remain closed until we are advised we can reopen. The launch ramp and walking trails will remain open at Wolf Lake.

The East Chicago Marina is shut until April 7.

COVID-19 CLOSURE UPDATE: 3/24/20

The staff at MCPA is doing their part to help prevent the spread of this virus by keeping the office sanitized and maintaining social distancing.

In accordance with Indiana Governor’s Executive Order regarding the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Michigan City Port Authority will be closed to the public thru April 7th .

We will continue to assist you via phone (#219.872.1712) or email (mapawlicke@mcmarina.org) / (kwinkelstern@mcmarina.org).

Although Trail Creek Marina will be accessible to ramp traffic Monday - Friday, 7 am to 3:30 pm only; all launch services via forklift & hoist will be suspended thru April 7th to safeguard both our boaters & the staff.

In addition, marina parking stickers & permits will not be available for pick up until further notice. RAMP PASSES CAN BE OBTAINED BY MAIL PER REQUEST.

We are carefully monitoring COVID-19 & CDC guidelines and will update you with marina status while we continue to provide you with the best possible service.
