Missing Lake Macquarie man returned home safe and well

UPDATE: A man reported missing from Lake Macquarie has been located safe and well.

The 59-year-old Macquarie Hills man was reported missing about 3am on Tuesday by members of his family.

About 10am Sunday police received notification from the man's family that he had returned home.

Police would like to thank the public and the media for their assistance.

EARLIER REPORT: Police are appealing for public assistance to find a man with dementia who is missing from the Lake Macquarie area.

The man, 59, was last seen at a home on Delasala Drive, Macquarie Hills, about 3am on Tuesday.

Officers from Lake Macquarie Police District attended and commenced a search for the missing man.

Family and police hold concerns for his welfare as he suffers from a number of health conditions, including dementia. He may appear disoriented to members of the public.

He is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, approximately 180cm, of a slim build, thin grey hair and a short grey beard. He walks with a stoop and is frail.

He was last seen wearing black 'Everlast' brand track pants and a black 'Everlast' hooded jumper with black shoes.
