Lake Macquarie drug supply ring member pleads guilty

A man accused of being the head of a major Lake Macquarie drug supply ring that involved former Knights player Jarrod Mullen has pleaded guilty to three charges in Newcastle Local Court.

Matthew Shane Pearce will be sentenced in the district court after he pleaded guilty on Wednesday to one count each of supplying a prohibited drug greater than or equal to a large commercial quantity, supplying a prohibited drug greater than or equal to a commercial quantity and importing a commercial quantity of a border controlled drug.

Several other charges against Pearce were dismissed.

Magistrate Robert Stone adjourned the matter to the district court on February 6.

Pearce was arrested in December, 2018, after detectives from Strike Force Castlestead swooped on syndicate members.
